Dr. Peter Nieuwenhuizen, Enerkem Vice-President, Technology Strategy & Deployment
As Vice-President, Technology Strategy & Deployment, Dr. Peter Nieuwenhuizen is responsible for the development and innovation of the Enerkem technology as well as the acceleration of the company’s impact on a global scale. In this capacity he oversees Enerkem’s technology & innovation program, including Enerkem’s technology offerings and partnerships, its Intellectual Property (IP) generation, as well as the company’s technology roadmap.
Mr. Nieuwenhuizen has over 25 years of international experience in the chemical industry in the areas of strategy, sales and marketing, supply chain management and research, development and innovation.
He began his career at AkzoNobel, a global leader in specialty chemicals. Over the last 20 years, he has held key roles in both the United States and Europe. Prior to joining Enerkem, he held the position of Chief Technology Officer and Director of Sustainability. In addition to his work for AkzoNobel, he has served as Global Marketing Director at Supresta LLC, a company specializing in flame retardant technologies and chemicals, and as Consultant for the chemistry and energy department at Arthur D. Little, which is where he started his passion for circular and biobased chemistries.
Mr. Nieuwenhuizen has a degree in Chemistry from Vrije University in Amsterdam and a PhD from Leiden Institute of Chemistry, Leiden University, The Netherlands.
