Dr. Frédéric Leroy, L’OREAL

Director- Strategic & Scientific Foresight, France

After graduation as engineer at the Ecole Supérieure de Physique et de Chimie Industrielles (Paris) and obtaining a PhD in analytical Chemistry, Frédéric Leroy joined L’Oréal Recherche in 1984. During 30 years, he developed the physical sciences within Advanced Research laboratories. He was involved in the development of new analytical tools in physics and chemistry (microscopy, nanophysics, optics and mechanics), and in the basic research on hair, skin and nail and the mechanisms of action of the major cosmetic treatments.

He is now at the head of the Strategic Foresight within the Scientific Directorate of L’Oréal. His major activities are the deciphering of emerging science and technologies and the analysis of their potential impact on cosmetic science, both in terms of technical breakthroughs and emergence of new risks.
