Global Technology & Sustainability Director
Improving the world through sport is more than an Olympic Movement philosophy. It’s a way of life for Nicoletta Piccolrovazzi. And she has the technological resources of one of the world’s leading chemical companies to make it a reality.
As Global Technology & Sustainability Director for Dow Olympic & Sports Solutions, Nicoletta is in a unique position to help organizing committees, bid cities, organizers of large-scale events and other key stakeholders address technology and sustainability-related needs with Dow solutions. Among her greatest triumphs are the carbon mitigation programs implemented by Dow on behalf of the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee and the ongoing work to ensure the mitigation of the Rio 2016 Organizing Committee’s direct carbon footprint.
This pioneering program debuted in Russia, enabling Sochi 2014 as the first Olympic Games in history to have the direct carbon footprint of its Organizing Committee entirely mitigated before the Opening Ceremony. Now Dow is working with international experts and customers and key partners in Latin America to help Rio 2016 achieve its sustainability goals by implementing the most comprehensive carbon mitigation program in the history of the Olympic Games.
Of course, taking on a leadership role is nothing new for Nicoletta. She previously led the Technical Service organization for multiple businesses, responsible for customer support and technology implementation throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa. She has been part of Dow since 1989, when she was a Technical Service engineer in Switzerland. Since then, she has held positions in Research & Development and Marketing & Sales. Her expertise covers a range of markets, including coatings, construction, adhesives, paper coatings and flooring.
Nicoletta holds a Ph.D. from the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Switzerland, and a master’s degree in chemistry from Padua University in Italy. She is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt and speaks Italian, German, English and French. A native of Italy, Nicoletta is married with two daughters. She has a strong interest in diversity and is engaged in the Dow Women’s Innovation and Disability Employee Networks.
She is an active supporter of Rainbows4Children Foundation, which strives to bring educational opportunities to children in Ethiopia.
