Dr. Martin Vollmer, CLARIANT Chief Technology Officer, Switzerland
In January 2010, Martin Vollmer joined Clariant International Ltd. in Pratteln, Switzerland, and was appointed Chief Technology Officer and Head of Group Technology & Innovation. He is responsible for Research & Development, IP Management, Engineering and New Business Development. Prior to this he was Vice President Marketing and Business Development in the Business Unit Coatings, Adhesives, Specialties at Bayer MaterialScience AG (now Covestro) located in Leverkusen, Germany. From 2002 – 2009, Martin Vollmer held a variety of management positions within Bayer AG in Research, Marketing, Business Development and Corporate Development. From 1999-2002 he worked as Scientist in the Central Research Department of Bayer AG. Martin Vollmer graduated with a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Stuttgart, Germany in 1996. Following this, he took a postdoctoral research position in the Department of Chemistry at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California, USA.
Since 2011, he serves as Member of the Board of the Swiss Chemical Society and also as Member of the Board of the German Chemical Society since 2016. In 2015, he joined the Research & Innovation Programme Council of CEFIC .
