Dr. Moayyed I. Al-Qurtas, GULF PETROCHEMICALS & CHEMICALS ASSOCIATION

Chairman of Research and Innovation Committee

Dr. Moayyed Al-Qurtas is the Chairman of GPCA’s Research & Innovation Committee. He is the Ex-Vice Chairman and CEO of National Industrialization Company (TASNEE) – one of the largest Saudi industrial companies having several industrial plants throughout Saudi Arabia and the world. He was the Chairman of the Boards of Maadaniyah, Rasass, Rowad and Khadamat, which are affiliates of TASNEE.

Prior to joining Tasnee in 1996, Al-Qurtas was Director General of R&D at SABIC where he directed the establishment of SABIC R&D complex and SABIC’s other R&D, licensing and technological development activities. He also served as President of Petrokemya, Al Jubail –an affiliate of SABIC where he directed the establishment of its industrial complex, its technical and administrative organizations. In addition, he followed up on the establishment of Samad (later Albayroni), Ibn Hayyan in Jubail and GPIC in Bahrain. He was also the Chairman of the Boards of Ar-Razi, Ibn Zahr, and Ibn Al-Baytar which are affiliates of SABIC.

Dr. Al-Qurtas was a member of the Advisory Board for Economic Affairs of the Supreme Economic Council and a Director on the Boards of Riyadh Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Technical Colleges of the General Establishment of Vocational Training. Also, he was a founding board member of the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA).

Currently he is a Director on the Boards of Saudi Vitrified Clay Pipe Company, Alrajhi Bank, the group of Riyadh Cables companies, the Saudi Industrial Properties Authority (Modon) and the Saudi Development Fund.

Dr. Al-Qurtas is a Chemical Engineer, a member of the American Institute for Chemical Engineers, and holds a Ph.D. in Management.
